SmugMug > all-time keyword > alpine > Big Sierra peaks at the top of the Coyote Ridge Trail just under 11,500 feet. The treeline (alpine biotic zone) in the eastern Sierra is at 12,500 feet, 3,000 feet higher than it is in the western Sierra due to less preciptation. At 11,500 I am in the subalpine zone, which begins at 10,500 feet.
