Large Black Bear prints on Belden island, Quabbin Reservoir
Black Bears are common in Masachusetts and at Quabbin Reservoir. Their prints are typically 3-1/2 to 6 inches long, but these were very large -- maybe 8 or 9 inches. (It was difficult to tell because it had rained since the prints were made a few days earlier.) These were found on the west side of Belden Island (which is only an island in high-water years).
