Jerash - Oval Forum
Jerash is the site of the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa, also referred to as Antioch on the Golden River. It has a prominent oval forum.
Hidden by a very steep and winding trail, this archeological site is well worth the effort it takes to find it. Located off the map in Canyonlands National Park in Utah, it is well protected and only available to those who seek it out. A prime example of ancient Puebloen ruins, this magical place located the middle of a sheer cliff face shows the heartiness of its ancient settlers. Although it appears to be a Kiva, researchers actually have found traces of the ancient peoples using it as a residence. Stock Image #20100520-171145

Anasazi ruins litter the landscape of Southern Utah. The Flame House is one of the most well known of these ruins. At certain times of the day, the sunlight bounces off the red rocks and makes it appear that the ancient dwelling is on fire. Stock Image #20100527-120626

It is easy to see how the "Flame House" gets its name. This ancient ruin in Utah was once home to the Anasazi. As the sun rises, the light bounces off the ground onto the room giving the appearance of the roof being on fire. A beautifully preserved archaeological site, the flame house is a must see for those interested in our ancient histories. Stock Image #20100527-124654
