a painful smile.... 022813

Ending Black history month with a sober reality. I went to the Dominican in 2011 on a photo journal trip with a friend to capture images and stories of those involved in human trafficking...particularly under age victims. I met this boy and shared my lunch with him one day... he and others sell trinkets etc during the day and then at night are forced to sell themselves. Corruption is rampant there, so very little is done to protect these children or prosecute those who purchase them for selfish pleasure:(:( Human trafficking is the largest growing illegal activity, surpassing the drug trade and is happening not only abroad, but in our own backyards as well in North America. One day i pray he will be able to say... "Free at last, free at last".

Feb 26 - Abstract Floral Pattern of My Cycling Jersey
26/30 30 Days of Black & White
The Featured-4-Feb Word of the day is "Flower" and one of the Flash-o-Red themes of the week is "Abstract", so I thought the macro pattern of this jersey sort of fit the bill.

Feb 24 - Roman Columns? Concrete Totem Poles?
24/30 30 Days of Black & White
Came across these on our way to a restaurant in the middle of Seattle. Not quite sure what they are all about.

Feb 25 - Full Moon
25/30 30 Days of Black & White
The moon was so bright that I had to reduced the exposure when taking this so that it did not look like I was shooting directly at the sun!
