"Ibis in a Sliver of Light"
Corkscrew Swamp in Florida offered just a sliver of late-day light cast upon this White Ibis stepped, creating lovely rim light and a warm, peaceful and colorful moment in an otherwise quickly darkening swamp.
Riding pilgrims. Taken during the festival known as Rocio chico, a special pilgrimage between the town of Almonte and the village of El Rocio wich takes place every seven years to commemorate a miracle of the Peninsular War or Independence War (1808-1814) time. The Virgin, totally covered to protect the image from the dust, is beared by young men while women carry her holy valuables as penitence and many men shoot their shotguns towards the sky. Almonte, province of Huelva, Andalusia, southwestern Spain, May 2006.

02.05.13 - Backlight, Bokeh and Beauty!

I shot a similar scene to this down at the Old Fishponds a couple of weeks ago. The light was great then too, but the tones were all muted browns.

Now the greens are coming through and the whole scene has lifted to another level. Thanks for the responses to my ducklings yesterday :)
4/24/2013 ~ The Glory of Weeds

'Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.'
~George Eastman

I read this quote very early on in my adventure into photography. It's stuck with me all these years because photography is and always will be, the art of light. Light can make or break an image. Sometimes the greatest subject can look awful in bad light, while a simple clump of weeds growing in a seedy area of a dirty city, can glow like Heaven's gold.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments on yesterday's Water Lilies shot! Have a great Hump Day!
