Cabin In The Woods
The trail hiking Gods seem to be against me at the moment. Last weekend, we were going to attempt our first hike in the Spring Cypress area of Houston and storm clouds threatened us as we drove out and arrive to the trail. This would have been my first hike back home. I guess my first was in Cozumel as we visited the ruins, but it was not officially hiking.
Since the storm clouds were out, we didn’t want to get drenched in rain before we prepared with more gear (a process that will be slow going), so we took a half mile stroll just to look around. During this small endeavor, we came across this façade of a building in the middle of the trail. Quite fun looking.
We left that day and to my disappointment, no rain. The next Wednesday, I was scheduled off from work and had scheduled a small hike with a friend but had to cancel that due to a head cold. Then this weekend, we had the same weather problem. All the signs said rain… but nothing came from it as we stayed home and watched movies.
Now, I won’t have another day to go out until this next weekend which according to the weather…it will rain. Our gear is still in the basic stages: shoes only. We are still newbies and are taking baby steps to get gear. I guess my next purchase should be a rain jacket?
