Stephen MacNeil, a pipe technician at Henderson's in Traverse City, assembles a bagpipe at the shop on Thursday. Henderson's gets parts for bagpipes from several countries and sells the completed instruments worldwide. MacNeil, who has been playing for 40 years and working at Henderson's for nine, has assembled thousands of bagpipes in his years. Each one takes roughly two hours to put together and MacNeil plays each pipe to make sure it is perfect before shipping it off. St. Patrick's Day has started to rival Christmastime for sales, according to owner Melissa Moore.
