SmugMug > all-time keyword > belly > they were concerned about noemi's heartbeat staying steady throughout the contractions, she was sleeping through them, so they put her on oxygen. the O2 and sweet soda did make her hear beat fluctuate the way they wanted but finally they decided that she was fine just a particularly unconcerned baby. they took her off of the oxygen later on.
SmugMug > all-time keyword > belly > some kind of weird hearing test that measures her brain waves while sounds are played into her ears. if she were deaf they would be able to tell by her brain waves. she passed.
SmugMug > all-time keyword > belly > her lungs were a bit wet, from being in the womb too long i guess, so here she was crying but it was a bit feeble. the nurses poked at her to trigger her to cry harder and pull the fluid out of her lungs. she can screech pretty loud now.
SmugMug > all-time keyword > belly > i had just pulled noemi out, still blue, and plopped her on vicki right away. she pinked up pretty fast. 8lb 8oz and 21 inches long.
SmugMug > all-time keyword > belly > we were scheduled to be induced on july 24 but we cut them off at the pass by inducing at home with 2oz of castor oil in some scrambled eggs on the 23rd. vicki labored for 12 hours in all kinds of positions and she felt better when i put some pressure on her lower back during contractions. no drugs at all during the whole birthing process. vicki did an incredible job, everyone was impressed. 40 minutes of pushing and she was in my hands.
