I went on two wildlife and glacier viewing cruises while in Alaska. The weather was atrocious on my first cruise, but quite nice on the second one, which made up for the lost opportunities of the first. Departing from the town of Whittier – one of the strangest towns on the planet – the cruise I went on in the middle of August, 2016, traveled down Blackstone Bay in order to see two tidal glaciers, including this beauty: Blackstone Glacier. Like most glaciers on the planet, it is rapidly receding, so I was happy to be able to see it in the condition I did.
