Long-billed Curlew
This was the first Long-billed Curlew that I ever saw. Curlews use their long bill to capture shrimp and craps that are burrowed deep into tidal mudflats or to catch deeply buried earthworms in grasslands. This bird was very tame and often approached me closely as it wondered the beaches of Fort Desoto Park.
Laughing Gulls
When I noticed these Laughing Gulls sleeping along the edge of the beach, I thought they looked very artistic as their bodies faced each other while their heads faced in opposite directions.
Room with a View: Happy Friday! An osprey family decided to build their nest on the top of a utility pole...The baby osprey is scanning the horizon, waiting for mom to return with his lunch. Thank you for all your comments and visits this week - Sorry I haven't had much time to comment on your work, It's been pretty hectic around here and it seems it's going to get even crazier during the next 2 weeks. I'll do my best! Have a great holiday weekend! See you on Tuesday
