Like strings of pearls, droplets of water glisten around me. They speak of a recent rain. Soon my feet are soaked in natur's love. I shiver with cold and can't help but be mesmerized as blades of grass transform before my eyes into strings of hair. Soft breeze gently moves through a meadow weaving its way close to the ground. Strings of hair sway ever so slightly, and the Goddess that has been supporting my every step reveals her face to me for a brief moment. Our eyes lock and my knees give in. Everything begins to spin. Ground moves beneath my feet in some primordial rhytm. I am love struck and terrified at the same time. She, who gives and takes a life winks at me. Just as I think I might faint an icy cold gust of wind slams into my face. It sends my own hair flapping in all directions. Startled I regain my footing. I look around for the face of the Goddess but it is gone. Only locks of her hair adorned with pearls lay around me as a reminder. I start walking again noticing now a familiar rhythm in the beat of my heart. We are all blessed by the Goddess!
Storm on the Causeway Coast
When I was at home in Belfast over christmas, I wanted to get up to the Giant's Causeway for some sunrise photo opportunities. Sadly the weather was awful for most of the time.
On my final chance, I thought I'd risk it. It was freezing, but stayed reasonably dry. Until I actually started taking pictures.
The wind really picked up and the rain was hitting me from all directions. I had to rest a lot of my weight on the tripod to stop it getting blown over. The benefit was some great waves crashing over the famous hexagonal rocks of the causeway.
Technical info

This is actually about 6 photos in one. Although the waves were all in the space of about 20 seconds, they didn't quite all get captured in the one frame. I added them back in, plus a long exposure with my 10-stop neutral density filter for the rocks in the middle of the outcrop.
Finally I upped the contrast and made it monochrome for a more dramatic feel.
I Can't Believe the Huskies Won06 February 2013 -- 37/365Barrington, Rhode IslandLooking for a change in scenery, I headed to Haines Park in Barrington for today's photo. There are usually a few walkers, cyclists, and fishermen in the park, so I was hoping to continue my street photography series. As it turns out, there was just this gentleman walking his reluctant Boston Terrier. I say reluctant because it was clear the pup wanted to be anyplace but there. The look on his face is priceless, and that leads us to the caption of today's photo. There are four Division One college hockey teams in Boston: Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, and Northeastern. Every year, they meet at the TD Bank Garden for a tournament known as the Beanpot. The rivalries are intense, and winning the Beanpot is as important to these teams as the entire rest of the season. This past Monday the first game in the semi-finals was played between the Northeastern Huskies and the Boston University Terriers. The Huskies won, 3-2. As you can see in today's photo, this Terrier is clearly not pleased with the results.Post processing today started with a standard greyscale conversion in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, followed by adaptive exposure, regions, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. I adjusted brightness and contrast in PSE and topped it off with a sepia photo filter.
