The Top of Vermont
I hiked the Long Trail South to the 'Chin' of Mount Mansfield yesterday. At 4,393 feet, it's the highest point in Vermont. The view in this image is of the Mount Mansfield ridgeline leading to its 'Nose'. The 360-degree panoramic views make for a spectacular experience there. The hike up there is not for the faint-hearted, however. As it was, I had to turn around on the way down when I discovered that the part of the trail I had cut off on the way up went along a giant ravine that looked like it was 2 miles deep. No way I was going to climb down rock formations 3 to 5 feet away from that...
