This Red-necked Grebe is a diving bird with lobed feet. It feed on fish, crustaceans and insects. They have an elaborate mating ritual which is amazing to watch as they rush across the water as a synchronized pair. An interesting fact is they eat their own feathers and feed the feathers to their young. It is believed this is done to protect their gut from fish bones before they have a chance to dissolve.
