center details of sunflower. I'm intrigued by how it so perfectly regular almost looking man made (some would argue that as a cultivar, it is man made!). There are three obvious globs or drops of nectar too (white waxy looking) toward the outer band before the seed developments.
Flower flies, Hover Fly or Syrphid fly, sixteen species of which this is one are often seen hovering around flowers. They eat nectar but also will eat aphids and are important in natural pest control. This is a blossom of soft pink, New Dawn climbing rose in my coastal Maine, Phippsburg garden

Kolkwitzia or Beauty Bush, tall pink shrub. I used to steal these from  nieghbor every summer to take to my mother, who loved them, though she dissapproved of my theivery. It's an early summer bloomer here in PHippsburg, Maine on the coast
Kolkwitzia, Beauty Bush is a lovely, soft pink flowering shrub. It is an old fashioned favorite.
