Travel day is here once again. Our flight wasn’t until 5pm today, so we made one last trek out into the city. We had brunch at a place called Oddfellow’s, that, while not being officially related to the Oddfellow’s in Dallas, was startlingly similar in vibe and food selection. A woman working at a nearby store told us that Oddfellows is the name of an old cult or society or something, and that often when Oddfellows buildings are renovated, “they find skeletons in the walls and whatnot.” That was weird.
The restaurant had a 30min wait, so Emily and I shopped at the bookstore next door called Elliott Bay Book Company. It’s a really nice place! They even had a shiny new book about Elon Musk on display that sucked me in for a few minutes. So, we did that, finally had a tasty brunch at Oddfellow’s, and then guess what! Turns out Oddfellow’s is right next to Molly Moon’s ice cream! Yep. We went there again. This time I tried their Earl Grey ice cream. It’s subtle, yet refreshing. Thumbs up!
When we were ready to go, we had to hang out by the car for a bit. We parked on the same street where they’d been shooting that Mercedes commercial yesterday, and the art department had arrived with a couple of big trucks to pick up the rest of their junk. There were a couple of tables next to our car covered in books with signs saying “not for sale.” Turns out those were all props–along with the parking meters and street lamps! I had no problem waiting.
We got to the airport several hours early and passed the time by eating, drinking, and computing in comfy chairs. We’re both so glad to be home. Hopefully we’ll both be healthy again soon. Jeesh.
