The prides in this part of Botswana had fallen apart. Maned males came over from Namibia, but did not stay. Our guide felt this female had been on her own for a long time. Pointng out her powerful, muscular build, bigger than the average pride emale. She had brought down a zebra and did not want the vultures to get take it. She was stationed near a meager water hole but away from shade. She subjected herself to the intense sun and heat to protect her kill.
