"SWEET SURPRISES" Theme

"I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon." ~ Author Unknown

The debut of our February 2013 table setting.........red is my favorite color!

"L" is for love! Romance is in the air, and on the table, with this easy but elegant setting.

Happy Valentine's Day!

"CANDLE HOLDERS"

I've not had time to pick the camera up and take new photos. The cold, rainy, icy weather - due to Winter Storm Helen over the past few days - has not helped. Last night, we had light snow showers, but it wasn't cold enough to stick. Today, the high is suppose to be 51 degrees. It is snowing in nearby cities; I am keeping hope alive that it comes our way:).

Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday!

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day. ~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce

I have been decorating our kitchen table every month since 2009. I love decorating and home decor! This year, I solicited the help of my SmugMug friends for color combinations for our New Year's (2013) table setting. And the story goes like this......

For Judy (aka fotoeffects)..........

Last month, Judy (aka fotoeffects) suggested red, chartreuse, and hot pink accents for our December Christmas table setting. On the other hand, Karen (aka Kjakes1) suggested red and gold. Although I finally decided upon purple, lime green, silver, and black - colors suggested by fellow SmugMugger Nelli and one of my colleagues, I still created a table setting in Karen's suggested color scheme and felt up to the challenge of creating one in Judy's suggested color scheme, too. For this one, I tried to create a different arrangement of the ornaments for each plate.

"PURPLE REIGNS" Theme

"You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love." ~ Henry Drummond.

The day after Thanksgiving ........ which leads us right into the Christmas holiday! 'Tis the season. Here's how I spent Black Friday: getting ready for the holidays. There's nothing I need badly enough to endure the crowds shopping the day after Thanksgiving:).

OK - here she is - our December (Christmas) table setting. Of the many suggestions on table setting colors from friends, a colleague, SmugMuggers (Judy, Nelli, and Karen), and even children, I decided to go with...........drum roll, please........

Nelli's and my colleague's (you know who you are) combined suggested colors of purple, lime green, black, and silver! It's often said that "Great minds think alike." Judy and Karen, thanks and stay tuned; your suggestions will be used in forthcoming table settings.

"Why go for the same old when you can go for the bold?" Prior to deciding to decorate the table yesterday evening, I remained indecisive between the selected colors and red, silver, and lime green. With the exception of the ornaments, the sticks in the glass vase, and bowls, all other accessories were used in my August table setting. It took me approximately an hour and a half - mixing, matching, changing, and rearranging to pull this table together; and boy was I tired afterwards........whew!

As a reminder, ALL TableScapes are my original designs and themes; you know what that means. View additional photos of this table setting as well as the complete gallery of my table settings here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/11014855_M5W6FW#!i=2231434219&k=D2BCkws
