"PURPLE IN MY HEART" Theme
"It comes every year and will go on forever; and along with Christmas belong the keepsakes and the customs. Those humble, everyday things a mother clings to, and ponders, like Mary in the secret spaces of her heart." ~ Marjorie Holmes
The debut of our December/Christmas table setting.........It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - at our home - and everywhere you go!
I love interior decorating and beautiful home décor! This is my seventh table setting for the Christmas holidays, although it's the first in a series of table settings that are forthcoming posts. Biblically speaking, seven is the number of completion. I thought about designing a purple, green, and metallic gold table setting, but decided against it, although designing table settings is a labor of love and truly one of my God-given gifts.
Also, I received several great color schemes suggestions for our December/Christmas table setting. I had decided on one of those suggestions until.............Lo and behold, I stopped by our local KMart and saw a Christmas tree decorated in purple and silver and that was my "Aha Moment." The table's "centerpiece of attention" (as I like to call all centerpieces) was custom designed by me, also.
Additional photos of this and previous table settings are in "My TableScapes" gallery here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/HolidaysHoliday-Travel/Christmas-Scenes-2013
Moreover, I've often been asked how do I come up with the designs and themes. To be honest, and this is no lie, I NEVER, EVER sketch or brainstorm ideas. I may find an inspiration piece or think of a color scheme. From there, I purchase items that I think I will use. Then, I place the placemats or plates, and from there, it's trial and error. I don't sit and plan how I want the table setting to look; I just let it all come together from the placement of the décor. So, now you know:).
Finally, I would be remiss not to say thanks again to my colleague Shelia, fellow SmugMuggers Judy (aka fotoeffects), Elizabeth (aka arctangent ),Suzanne (aka DreamCatcherPhotography), and Peggy for their color scheme suggestions this year. To show my appreciation, I designed table settings in each of the color schemes of their choice and will post the photos of each table setting over the course of five days.
Tomorrow is "V" day of Donna McCommon's "Alphabet Challenge." I am ready; are you?
Have a happy and safe weekend, my friends!
