I shot this one during the morning blue hour at about 5:45am and you'd be surprised at how many cars are on the road at this time as the freeway is constantly flowing. "The Oil Fields" © Luke Zeme 2013. Nikon D800 + Nikkor 14-24mm This HDR shot of the Brisbane CBD was taken in the ripples on the waters surface of it's artificial beach during a beautiful sunrise. Sometimes placing your subject in the centre of your composition can work and give it strength and I think this is one of those circumstances. I titled it the oil fields because the clouds looks like those burning oil fields from the middle east that were all over the news in the 90's. "Paddle Boat, River Life" © Luke Zeme 2013 When a sunrise is this intense you can never complain about getting up at 430 or 5 o'clock. My background in painting has helped me to really appreciate beauty in nature and here I used complimentary colours when editing the work to really make the colours pop ! Off to the right of the image you can see one of those old paddle boats docked at the wharf.
