I spent the vast majority of my day freaking out about a meeting with DL to show her the (finally) finished holiday video. I showed it to Angilee, who brought up concerns about it, some specific parts that she knew DL would get hung up on. Before the meeting, we were already talking about reshooting parts of the video, cutting some shots, and restructuring the story in some pretty substantial ways. There was concern that people wouldn’t “get it,” so they showed it around the office. Long story short, a consensus was reached that the video would definitely be changing after the DL meeting; it was just a matter of how much we said before showing it.
Well, the meeting finally arrived, and DL freaking loved it. Her only concern was that the president might try to change things when he sees it next week. What a HUGE relief! Truth be told, I’d much rather be freaked out all day and have an awesome meeting than be totally chill and get splashed with cold water at the meeting.
When I got home, there was a sweet new Peak Design bag waiting for me! It hasn’t been long since I backed their Kickstarter, but the bag is already here, and it is REAL COOL. I actually had a dream last night that consisted 100% of me moving into that bag. Yes, I’m a huge nerd, but hey, I already knew were all my stuff was gonna go when I got home! I’m really stoked about this bag.
Tonight, I met Amanda at Oak Street Drafthouse, taking an Uber since I have no vehicle. I ran into so many people I know! I really need to get in the habit of going out more frequently. I met a couple of new people too, one of which I somehow ended up rambling on and on to about Taco Giorno. Daniel Markham? He was a nice dude. Apparently he’s also local-famous? Whoops. I’m glad I didn’t know that at the time or I probably would’ve clammed up and hid under a table. OH, when I ordered my beer there, the bartender was like, “Hey Brad how’s it going?” Confused, I looked up and it was Jack Fraser?! He’s the marketing dude at work. Apparently he also bartends sometimes? It was so confusing and weird but kinda fun...sort of like the whole night, actually.
After Oak Street, we hit up Harvest House and saw RTB2. I’d never seen them play before, so I’m pretty sure can call myself a real Dentonite now! It was a solid show. We wrapped the night up with some Back Dough before Amanda gave me a ride home.
