Photo taken from the HMCS Chambly (Avalon) From www.rcnvr.com: "HMCS Chebogue (River Class Frigate - K317) was torpedoed by U-1227 on 4 October 1944, 800 miles west of Ireland. She was towed some 900 miles first by HMCS Chambly, then HMS Mounsey, then HMCS Ribble and the ocean tug HMS Earner when, on October 11, 1944;, the towline parted in a gale and HMCS Chebogue was driven ashore in Swansea Bay Wales. She was refloated the next day and towed to Port Talbot, Wales, and placed in reserve. In December 1944, she was moved to Newport, Wales, to be made ready for a transatlantic crossing under tow but instead was taken to Milford Haven and paid off on September 25th 1945.
