I've found an area of the Sparkleberry Swamp at the headwaters of Lake Marion in South Carolina where the barred owls reaspond very nicely to judicious use of a Barred Owl call. While very close flyby's are the normal, I've only been attacked once, and have learned to avoid that since. The silent flight of these guys is most impressive! Photographed from a kayak.

This photo was taken from the observation tower on Bull Island, over looking Jack's Creek area. I shot this while filming for Expeditions with Patrick McMillan. Many times when shooting time lapses I'll set up multiple cameras in different areas and let them run, then go between them and check everything out during the exposures. You need about 40 minutes of exposure time to get some decent star trails. I shot for about that long using 30 second exposures.
This photo was taken on the north eastern shore of Bull Island, South Carolina. A long exposure was used for cloud blur.
