The Wallenberg Crypt II

Now we also see the golden mosaic cealing in the crypt.
Room of Shadows

The morning sun was coming in through the windows, casting long shadows in its way. This is one of the rooms inside the currently empty Old National Archives in Stockholm.
Old National Archives II

Another shot of the main entrance. The slim cast iron columns look almost threatening here.
St. Matthew's Church

St. Matthew's Church was designed by Erik Lallerstedt and built in 1903. I didn't know about it until fairly recently, but once I saw a picture or two I had to stop by. Coffered wooden ceilings and golden chandeliers are often good signs of a photogenic environment.
My Parents' Kitchen

I don't do a lot of standing photos anymore, but exceptions are made. This so happens to be my parents' kitchen. I still sit down around this table with them once or twice a week.
The Opera Chandelier

This is the cealing above the Swedish national stage for opera and ballet. The chandelier is impressive, isn't it? Sort of located in the middle of a great tondo painting. The curvature of the arcade draws me in a bit; it's a beautiful building really.
The Tondo Above

It's very difficult to photograph cealings and get all the lines symmetric, isn't it? To be honest, I did cheat just a little bit here, using the skew tool in Photoshop. You could say I just compensated for the lens distortion...

Anyway, this is a tondo painting inside the Royal Opera House in Stockholm. Unfortunately I have no idea who made it.
King of the Forest

A Swedish moose in a glass display case, photographed at the Museum of Natural History in Stockholm. I came back here a couple of weeks ago in class, among other things to study the moose from a gender perspective. Well, I had no idea we were going to do that, and I find such notions foolish at best. It's sometimes called "the Swedish model"; no matter what you study, a gender perspective will be taught uniformly. Here we even say "gender science", a concept that doesn't seem to exist in English.

Basically the moose is sort of standing tall, looking every bit like the king of the forest. Apparantly, this is the product and upholder of patriarchical power structures in society. Here I was, thinking this was just a moose. How embarassing...
Future Elevation I

Elevators encased in glass makes for a neat HDR. Somehow it doesn't look like anything in particular. It just has a futuristic feel to it. Anyway, I shot it onboard the cruiseferry M/S Silja Europa.
