It is still cold and STILL raining here. I spent the day yesterday organizing photo's. I came across these photo's taken this spring when we had to have our big pine tree removed. The County Extension Agent came out and said it was extreme stress from years of drought. He determined it was over 100 feet high and at least 100 years old. Our sweet neighbor, Cruz, helped us take it down.
The line you see in the right of the Vertical picture is not a power line it is a rope that has a large branch tied off. Look to the bottom of the frame you will see the power lines and our black pipe entry. BTW that entry is 20 feet tall!
When Cruz came down from the tree, just before bringing the main trunk to the ground he took a knee and crossed himself. He said "the trees are a part of us, we must be thankful for them" He has lived on the property across the street for 30 years, he has watched the trees grow and change over the years. It broke all of our hearts to loose this old beauty.
The guy in the red shirt is my hubby Shaun. He hates to be in front of the camera (maybe because I have it out so much) but agreed that we needed some way to show the scale of the trunk.
Thank you for the comments on the junk yard dog. I posted him on FB and received several name suggestions. Bolt, Gizmo and Grommet. My favorite being "Sparky" by Suzanne (Dream Catcher)
Have a great day
