St Marys Church Ambleside
The church of St Mary's Church of England , Ambleside, Cumbria. The church dates from 1854 and was designed in the Early Gothic revival style by reknowned architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, better known for greater buildings such as The Midland Grand Hotel at St. Pancras station, London. The building is unusual for the area in being constructed from sandstone rather than the local lakeland slate, which is harder to work. EDITORIAL ONLY, RIGHTS MANAGED PHOTO.
