This orb or mirrorball was sitting on the river due to the Brisbane Festival. It's purpose? no idea. All I know is it looks cool during blue hour. All images creative commons non commercial
This was taken on Kangaroo Point, across the water from the CBD of Brisbane. Due to the low amount of light polution on this side of the river, on a clear night you can see a full sky of stars over the city. I don't recall ever going to another city where this is possible. Sunsets of this beauty are a regular occurence in this part of the world. One of my favourite places to shoot is down by the river on Kangaroo Point. This is one of the many jettys looking towards the city. All images creative commons non commercial
The Pacific Highway at rush hour is packed with cars going to and from Brisbane. It makes a great light show during blue hour. All images creative commons non commercial.
After sunset, just before complete darkness sets in, you hit something called 'blue hour'. The sky goes a vivid dark blue which offers a colourful backdrop to the recently illuminated city. All images creative commons non commercial
The ever reliable Thornton Street Ferry at sunset. A familiar sight for people who live on Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. All images creative commons non commercial.
The New York City Skyline at Sunset - By Vivienne Gucwa

Late summer sunsets over New York City are the most intoxicating.

The bubbles from the wake of boats in the river go right to the head.

And the sun's trail of gold kisses on the water

lead straight to the heart of the city.

It's this time of year when I start to miss late summer sunsets like this in New York City. When I need to clear my mind, I head to the water. Sometimes I go to the beach to listen to the waves and sometimes I go to the river to gain perspective on everything going on in my life. I don't know what I would do if I lived in a land-locked area.

On the day that I took this photo, I rode the East River Ferry for 4 hours straight (the day-pass is incredible) watching the light stretch across the sky and cityscape changing subtly every hour until the sun burst over the city like a supernova. The waves were perfect that day. The East River Ferry stops in both Manhattan and Brooklyn going from 34th Street in midtown, down to Wall Street's Pier 11, passing under each of lower Manhattan's bridges and then across to stops in Brooklyn and Queens connecting at piers in DUMBO, Greenpoint, Williamsburg and Long Island City.

The Milky Way over Queenstown Tom and I went up to the top of the gondola a few days ago to get some shots of the stars. The sky was clear and we were lucky!I made this with the fisheye lens and then did the lens correction on it. A bunch of stuff ended up getting cut off, but only I know that… It bothers me because there was some other awesome stuff! But since you don’t know what you’re missing… well I hope it is just good enough. :)- Trey RatcliffClick here to read the rest of this post at the Stuck in Customs blog.
