1969 Camaro SS Convertible Pace Car
The 1969 Camaro was the Official Pace Car for the 1969 Indianapolis 500 and as the Official Car of the ‘500’ Festival. The car was driven by 1960 Indy 500 winner Jim Rathmann. The Camaro SS pace car was powered by a 375-hp, 396-ci TurboJet V-8 engine and three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
In all, Chevrolet built 3675 replicas of the 1969 pace car.
They were painted Dover White RS/SS convertibles with Hugger Orange Z28 style stripes and the white convertible top. The interior was finished off with orange houndstooth cloth seats. Not all Pace Car Replicas had the door decals installed. They were part of the package, but were shipped to the dealer in the trunk, and only installed at the customers request.
The Corvette Chevy Expo is an All Indoor Corvette and Chevrolet event, full of Chevrolet vendors, Show Cars, and Cars for Sale, held annually in Houston, Texas and Dallas, Texas.
