Sushi: Take Out
I honestily have no idea what this little guy is carrying, but it looked a lot like sushi to me, so I had this thought that rather than picnic crashing, he was going for take out.
Gotta tell you, of all the challenges this month, this has been my favorite. I knew I didn't want to do a still ife or go shoot people in the park and ants were the 'obvious' choice, but I was not thinking of these guys. I envisioned stalking a gigantic 2.5cm carpenter ant or maybe something a smidge smaller, but these guys are so small I almost had to put my glasses on to see them!
Close your fist so that you can see your fingernails (upward facing). See the nail of your smallest finger? Imagine that two of these guys can fit end to end on the white part at the tip and they move like they've got jetpacks on them. Trust me, these guys don't take breaks, they are in emergency mode constantly.
Now imagine hand-holding a 105mm Nikkor with (2) extension tubes and manually focusing in this one inch area that they were travelling near the mouth of the hill. Let's just say they must have cooperated a bit by slowing down for me and staying in the extremely small depth of field range I was working at.
So here's to the #meridianchallenge #picnic challenge today. Sushi, Take Out as my outtake!
