'Thar she blows!
The life of a landscape photographer involves visiting places – and often – visiting the same place several times under different conditions. During my trip to Tasmania, I overnighted at Bicheno.

Bicheno has two main attractions – the penguins (which I see plenty of back in Victoria) and the blowhole (which is a bit of a novelty for me). Bicheno’s blowhole is easily accessible from the car park at the edge of the beach – a mere 50 metres or so from the car park – and regularly blows water as the swells hit the rocks. When I first arrived in Bicheno, it was the middle of the day with a very harsh sun in the sky. I needed to use two neutral density filters (an ND4 and an ND8) to be able to pull a shot off, and still ended up rendering it in black-and-white to produce a desirable result.
