NASA recently delivered the last of it's Space Shuttle fleet to become a museum display. The Space Shuttle Atlantis was recently transported from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., to the nearby visitor center. This was a sad day for me as I reflected on numerous years spent supporting the Space Shuttle Program. I worked for many years at the Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas in a laboratory called the Shuttle Avionics Integration Laboratory (SAIL). SAIL was responsible for testing the integration of flight hardware with flight software for each and every mission. SAIL contained a full scale replica of the Space Shuttle that was assigned an actual tail number - OV095). This image was taken of the Space Shuttle cockpit located in the SAIL.
