Logan Canyon, Utah, mid 1920's

Two years ago while I was visiting my parents I scanned the pages from an old photo album belonging to my grandmother. The album had fallen apart and many of the pictures had either fallen off or been torn off. I worked for a photographer doing hand restoration in college and Family History is something I am interested in. On Sunday I woke up thinking it was time to begin working on restoring the images I had scanned from the album. I scanned entire pages of the album two years ago. On Sunday, I cropped, re-sized, and did minor color adjustments. Some of them need more work, but unless I plan to enlarge and print them, it isn't advantageous to do more than that.

This is my favorite image. It has a very classic feeling to it. These young adults could be college students today. My grandmother is the girl in the middle/left. I love seeing this side of her. I only remember my grandmother as old and legally blind. Here she is young, wearing pants and boots. She is hiking and having a great time.

My great grandfather, Dr. W.W. Henderson, was head of the Biology and Zoology department at Utah Agricultural College until his death in 1945 (Utah State University--Go Aggies!) SO, it was natural for grandma to attend USU, where she got her teaching certificate. She told me that she had wanted to go into medicine, but was discouraged from doing so. She said that girls got married or became teachers. She taught until her marriage in 1931. She was 25 years old. She did pursue her desire to go into medicine after her children were raised and eventually became a surgical nurse.

I wish I knew who everyone was in this image. I wish I knew who took it. Most of the images from the album were obviously taken using a different camera, which I assume belonged to my grandmother. Her camera was not as good as this one and had a slight light leak.

TA11.6 / The pick-up from Topical is not available because the photographer is on the do not use list. This is the image we used in LSD 14e.
I posted some other options as well.
