A Common Moorhen, also called a Common Gallinule paddling amongst lily pads foraging for food. This bird is sometimes seen in southern Maine in the summer. I once saw one on the north end of The New Meadows River in North Bath, Maine. The river is actually a tidal estuary with salt marshes which is perfect habitat for this birds.
