(This shows a portion of a very tall (5-6 ft) bloom spike of one of the many kinds of tropical pitcher plants in the collection of carnivorous plants against a background of a painted wall. While the pitchers, which trap and digest insects, are visually the most interesting feature for most people, I find the flowers of such plants to have great appeal, as well. The flower colors, shapes, arrangements, etc. vary greatly across species, while the general shape of the pitchers varies much less.)
