Puget Sound Box Crab
9HH_6125
This Great Blue Heron strolls up the beach in anticipation of a treat from a fisherman. I named this great bird Spiritual Splendor many years earlier when he blessed my day by landing within three feet of me as I stood on the shore photographing dolphins. SS thought I was fishing and came to beg for bait. After a few moments it spread its wings and took flight, but not before changing my life forever and giving me the most beautiful photograph ever taken in my collection. Taken on my birthday, I treasure the photo and see it as a gift from God, because my gift of photography is a gift from God. This photograph was also taken on my birthday of Spiritual Splendor as he strolls along the beach, but this is a few years later. He is begining to show his age, but still looks beautiful to me as a blessed creation of God's. Each time we visit the beach, I search for SS with the understanding that one day he will no longer be around. But I've been blessed to have had such a close encounter with such a beautiful bird.
Crabby
Another Hermit Crab
This crab is just looking for a way to get away from the noisy photographer. (Granito de Oro, Isla Coiba National Park, Panama.)

It is hard to believe, but I am holding a crab that has decorated itself with algae so it can camouflage in the tide pool where it lives.
"Eyes of the Crab"
A crab sits on the rock. The red stripe on its eyes reveal its location.
