Cordon Cactus
57 miles from the pavement, we stopped to take some photos of nice cactus. The road had been OK up to that point, except for one 4-mile stretch of sandy washboards about 2 feet high.
13.6 miles from the pavement, we turned left at a place we named "Dead Cow Junction".
Wind turbines near Ocotillo
Ron and I left the LA area at 6:30 PM on Nov 30, 2012. We camped off Shell Canyon Road just north of Ocotillo among a large number of wind turbines.
