"DRESS CODE III"

"Individuality will always be one of the conditions of real elegance" ~ Christian Dior

I'll admit; I have an affinity for costume jewelry. Shown here is one of my favorite necklaces adorning a lime green turtleneck that I paired with a chocolate brown suit worn to work on the day this was photographed.

Christian Dior, the legendary designer, proclaimed: "No elegant woman follows fashion slavishly. You have to consider your age, your body, your lifestyle, personality amongst other things. Just because it looks good on a model or in a magazine, it does not mean it looks good on you. Just because everyone is wearing it, does not mean you have to wear it too. Remember, individuality is not an excuse for eccentricity." Amen!!

Have a safe and fun weekend, and remember to be yourself; if you can't do that, nothing else matters.

"TAX DAY 2013"

"He who has an opinion of his own, but depends upon the opinion and taste of others, is a slave." ~ Klopstock

I had this one "in the can" until today. The caption and sign say it all.

Thanks for your comments on my "Beads and Bangles" photo yesterday; it was #1 for a while, but finished in the #2 spot; but I am not sweating the small stuff. Congrats to my friend Linda (aka Lgood) whose 1940 Ford "Copperhead" photo was #1.

 Have a "tax-free" day:)!

"A CHERRY ON TOP"

"Can somebody please invent a straw that can actually be used with a milkshake?" ~ Unknown Author

SOOC, uncropped, flash fired

I don't post many food shots, although I take lots of them (especially when we dine out at new restaurants). After work and a long day of meetings, I decided to stop by "America's Drive-In" (aka Sonics) and order a vanilla milkshake. Thick and creamy........with a rich vanilla flavor.......finished with whipped topping......... and a cherry on top = yummylicious!

Have a "sweet" Tuesday.

"TASSLE"

"Women, being the beautiful things that they are, love to have feminine touches around the house. They love gorgeous fabrics like lace. I mean, Ernest, when was the last time you bought tassels for the drapes." ~ Michael Payne

Have a terrific Tuesday.

"REALLY RED BERRIES"

"Better than any argument is to rise at dawn and pick dew-wet red berries in a cup." ~ Wendell Berries

SOOC, uncropped, flash fired

I noticed that my previous posts didn't have much color, so I thought I'd post a shot of these winter berries before spring's arrival next week. If it was Christmas, these would be nature's Christmas lights. They were photographed in a neighboring subdivision.

Thanks for your comments; and although there are not enough days in the weekend, have a safe, happy, and fun-filled day!

"TRUNK UP"

“I meant what I said and I said what I meant - An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent!" ~ Dr Seuss

I almost forgot all about today being St. Patrick's Day, but here's something green:).

My aunt and two first cousins are members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

From what I've been told and read, "The elephant symbolizes strength and determination. The uplifted trunk represents high goals. The right foot forward represents forward movement. Delta's collect elephants in the forms of jewelry, stuffed animals, statues, or just about anything you can name. Many Deltas collect elephants because one of the founding sorors loved to do just that. When she passed away her collection of elephants was donated to the Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where they are on display in the archives. Today, most Deltas collect elephants in her honor." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://orgs.tamu-commerce.edu/tn1913/smybols.htm

Thanks for your overwhelmingly kind comments on yesterday's "red berries" photo.

Be blessed and share the rest!

"CATCHER'S MIT"

"Above anything else, I hate to lose." ~ Jackie Robinson

This is a trophy that our oldest grandson presented to his grandfather on Father's Day, 2007. He once played little league baseball for a few years and was pretty good, too. Although he writes with his right hand; he bats and catches with his left hand.

"Jackie Robinson, an American baseball player who became the first African American to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the modern era. Over ten seasons, all of which but the first he placed as a second baseman, he played in six World Series and contributed to the Dodgers' 1955 World Championship. He was selected for six consecutive All-Star Games, from 1949 to 1954,[5] was the recipient of the inaugural MLB Rookie of the Year Award in 1947, and won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1949—the first black player so honored.[6] Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. In 1997, Major League Baseball "universally" retired his uniform number, 42, across all major league teams; he was the first pro athlete in any sport to be so honored. Initiated for the first time on April 15, 2004, Major League Baseball has adopted a new annual tradition, "Jackie Robinson Day," in which all players on all teams wear #42."

"Robinson was also known for his pursuits outside the baseball diamond. He was the first black television analyst in Major League Baseball, and the first black vice-president of a major American corporation. In the 1960s, he helped establish the Freedom National Bank, an African-American-owned financial institution based in Harlem, New York. In recognition of his achievements on and off the field, Robinson was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal." ~ Reprinted texts from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Robinson

Happy Monday!

"AFTER TAXES"

"Finally, I found the answers in my room: Roof said, "Aim high;" Fan said, "Be Cool;" Clock said, "Every minute is precious." Mirror said, "Reflect before you act." Window said, "See the world." Calender said, "Be up-to-date." Door said, "Push hard to achieve your goals." ~ Unknown Author

Pray prey; pray! "Prey" is NOT a typo.
