05-21-2013 "Stages of Life" My friend called me to come take photos of these lovely flowers. Because of the busy weekend I didn't get there until late yesterday. The flowers were in all stages of life. New buds, just opened and getting old and wrinkled! The color is not a true red or a true orange but somewhere in between. They are some variety of a lily. To look at the bed is a delight and a cheerful sight. In addition to taking the photos we had a very nice visit. Thanks for your continued support and comments. They are welcomed daily. Donna
Tuesday, May 21, 2013 "OPULENT ORANGE" "The rose has been a favorite flower of poets since poetry began. Maybe it's because like a poem, a rose can say so much without saying much at all. The soft silky feel of a fresh rose petal evokes tenderness; the fragrant scent of a fresh spring rose brings refreshment; the vibrant colors of red, pink, peach, purple, orange, yellow, and white roses remind us of the dazzling beauty of creation; and getting pricked by a thorn causes pain. Monday, May 20, 2013 "THE POWER OF TWO" "I don't know whether nice people tend to grow roses or growing roses makes people nice." ~ Roland A. Browne SOOC, uncropped, no flash Our neighbors and other subdivision residents are so nice about me taking pics of flowers and other photo worthy finds in their yards. These were photographed yesterday in our neighbor's yard (to the right) of our home. Also, I am appreciative of your comments / votes on yesterday's "Skyscape" photo; as a result, it was the #2 photo yesterday. Although it was the #1 photo for the majority of the day, I am not complaining or "sweating the small stuff." SmugMuggers rock!! 5/15/13 Day 135/365 Our tree is still gorgeous out in the yard...I have a feeling those flowers will start falling off any day now, and I want to appreciate it while I can. It is stunning.
5/16/13 Day 136/365 One of the beautiful wave petunias that will be included in our flower tower project this coming weekend. Freshly watered :)
5/14/13 Day 134/365 A 7th grade math problem, solved by my daughter. I was in awe. I don't know how kids do this stuff these days!
05-16-2013 "Days Gone By" I love when John drives. I can get him to stop along the side of the highway and I can jump out and take photos. He even lets me know when it's clear to shoot. I love having a good "assistant." These old buildings have always caught my eye but I was either driving or the light wasn't right. I finally captured photos I liked. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for the comments on Ajax's yesterday. As far as why the toothpicks are in the ceiling, I would venture to guess it has had many college students eat in there and once it got started......well kids will be kids. I've never heard anyone tell a story about it. I just know it is very popular for the great food as well as very reasonably priced. Thus, college students love it. It's like going home to "mama's kitchen." Donna

5/12/13 Day 132/365 ♥ My Mother's Day cards from the kids and some of my presents ♥ I got LOTS of gorgeous flowers, which I helped pick out, and we are going to make a "flower tower" together as soon as the weather gets nice again...whenever that may be, considering that for a little while on and off today it was snowing. It was one of the strangest weather days ever... sun, rain, snow, sun, rain, snow...and at times, all three at once. Ahhh, Buffalo.
