I took this photo of two damselflies mating along the Pond Apple Trail on Sanibel Island.  I submitted the photo to my favorite insect web site (www.bugguide.net ) and someone identified these insects as Rambur’s Forktails.  There wasn’t much information available about them, but I did find out that they are pretty common.  They are found over most of the United States, Mexico, and all the way south to Chile.  They are even found in Hawaii.
