Honda displayed this racecar last year as well. In fact, a lot of the Honda booth seemed a bit recycled this year... hopefully that means they are gearing up for a big year to come... Anyway, last years shots were a little too similar to each other, so I tried to actively set up differently for each one this time around.
No doubt about it, the NSX concept car was one of the coolest vehicles at the 2013 NAIAS auto show in Detroit, Michigan. You may note that this isn't an HDR shot. Not only is it almost impossible to get 3 clean shots fast enough (while a car is slowly spinning), but this image also really didn't lend itself to my style HDR. You can tone-map a single image, but more often than not, you just add a bunch of distracting noise. Anyway, here's my first offering from the show... more to follow!
With the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan coming up, I thought I'd share a pic from last year. This was one of the last pics of the day. I took this at the Hyundai booth, where they had a new Genesis Coupe set up on one of those rotating platforms, slowly spinning in a circle. But unlike most other spinning circle platforms, this one was full access. I set up the tripod and wide angle lens about a foot from the bumper, and stacked 2 neutral density filters on top of each other to slow the shutter and get some motion blur in the background, but keep the car nice and crisp. I wish I could have gotten a little better perspective on this one, but that just gives me something to work on this year!
As we walked from the parking garage to the Detroit Auto Show, we passed by the famous Joe Louis "fist" monument. I had to scamper across traffic to get a shot. The fist is only a couple blocks from the convention center. It doubles as a center divider for traffic and a monument of the famous American heavyweight boxer.
