I spent almost the entire day today either on a plane or waiting for a flight. This morning I don’t even know what time it was when I woke up because my phone was charging in the other room. I just know that I got up and immediately started moving gear into the car so it could be returned to the rental places. Sput, Nate, and Nick drove with me to the airport, where I checked in, went through security, and began the journey. As for this girl, it’s kind of a weird story.
You know when you’re in a group waiting experience (ie waiting for a flight/bus/ride/whatever) and you find yourself casually staring at the people around you one by one? Well, this was the one girl who wasn’t dressed in a dingy sweater. Well, she at least stuck out as the least weary-looking traveler. OK, OK, she mostly stood out because she was about 98% legs. Anyway, the way our terminal worked at my layover in Phoenix, handicapped international travelers would pass through and cause our plane to temporarily have to stop boarding–something to do with how the doors worked. It took an abnormally long time for us to get on the plane, and my eyeballs kept drifting over to this chick. After quite some time, I finally got to my seat on the plane. I got all settled in and started pulling up a podcast to listen to, and who ends up sitting next to me? You guessed it.
Now, I know there was no real reason to feel weird or awkward in that situation, but it’s already way easier for me to feel awkward than normal, so I just defaulted to that. Luckily, she turned out to be super cool, and WAY talkative–she’s a salesperson. The flight ended up going by super fast as a result, and I didn’t even listen to my podcast!
Jay, in case you ever get a Facebook, thanks for agreeing to be my 365 for the day! Also, you only read this line, right?
