What a day!
Emily and I got up bright and early so we could make it to Southlake for her Apple appointment. Today was launch day for the iPhone 7, and Emily had an appointment for 9:30am to pick hers up. Of course, dozens of other people had 9:30 appointments too, and the place was way behind from the start. We finally made it inside, where they tried to get Emily all set up. Unfortunately due to some glitch, they weren’t able to activate the phone. On Apple’s end, her number was no longer active, but on AT&T’s end, everything was cookies. Long story short, she ended up buying the phone outright instead so she could just slap her SIM card in there. Works fine! But seriously, ugh.
It was fun to see Walt though. He was super helpful and cool.
Amanda joined us this evening to see Swiss Army Man at the Lyceum. It’s freakin’ cool that UNT hosts this kind of stuff, by the way. The movie was insanely weird and I loved it. I know the same guys did Interesting Ball, a short film I found on Vimeo ages ago, but I kinda want to dig deeper and see what else they’ve done. SAM rocked.
After the movie, we grabbed dinner at Rusty Taco–it’s been awhile–and grabbed drinks at East Side while we waited for the Back Dough to open. Clearly it’s a popular joint because there was a line of people waiting before the flipped the light on at 11pm. This was my first time eating food out of the Queenie’s building since it was Love Shack, and I have to admit those donuts were bomb. Emily had a PB&J thing that was pretty dense. Amanda got key lime pie donut that was rather magical. The real winner of the group was mine. I had a candy apple donut that I’m pretty sure had a little bit of applesauce on it. That thing was life-alteringly good. I have to go back to the Back Dough.
