Azaleas ( /əˈzeɪliə/) are flowering shrubs comprising two of the eight subgenera of the genus Rhododendron, Pentanthera (deciduous) and Tsutsuji (evergreen). Azaleas bloom in spring, their flowers often lasting several weeks. Shade tolerant, they prefer living near or under trees. This Azalea was located at Rainbow Springs State Park on a rainly day in Dunnellon, FL in October 2011.

Kayakers paddle out from the rental area at the head springs of Rainbow Springs State Park and head down along the crystal clear waters of the river at Dunnellon, Florida. Archaeological evidence indicates that people have been using this spring for nearly 10,000 years. Rainbow Springs is Florida's fourth largest spring and, from the 1930s through the 1970s, was the site of a popular, privately-owned attraction.
