08.02.13 - Bus Lane This is a shot from Thursday evening, on my way to my guided photo walk in town, but I only processed most of them yesterday. I like doing these when there is a bit of light still left in the sky, but the original intention was to get the traffic streaking to both sides of me. However, I really liked how this turned out with the standing traffic to the left and the warp drive bus on the right. In an ideal world I'd have removed the light post in the centre of the shot, it is a pain being there, but you can't have everything :) Thanks for the wonderful humouress comments on my shot of Willis sniffing my running shoes yesterday!

Lagoon Pier at Dusk Lagoon Pier in Port Melbourne is one of my favourite haunts. Every time I head down to that part of town, I find myself spending several moments either on this pier, or by this pier, just reflecting on life, or sometimes looking back at the Melbourne skyline while being thankful for the many things that I so often take for granted. I had recently come into possession of an ND400 filter, and decided to take it out for a spin the other evening. The water was rough, and the tide was coming in. In the fading light of the evening, the ND400 allowed me to do what I rarely have had the opportunity to do in the past... to shoot using the lens' hyperfocal distance in bulb mode. This shot was taken at f/4.0 with an exposure of 240 seconds - which allowed for enough exposure time to turn the very choppy waters of Port Philip to an icy flat surface within the camera. I feel that I am going to have a lot of fun with this new ND filter in the days to come!
THE FIRST SHOTS This image was taken in Hong Kong, while saying on a container feeder vessel. Unfortunately that isn't a good scan from the film, got to get a better one! Why I like to call it "The First Shot"? Click here to find it out.
