Nineteen-year-old Charles "C.J." Collins of New Waterford was transported by Leetonia Fire/EMS to Salem Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Salem Grange Road at state Route 558. Collins was reportedly eastbound on Salem Grange Road when he was unable to stop for a stopped truck in front of him at the intersection near the bottom of a hill. Collins attempted to go out around the truck but lost control, with the vehicle striking a utility pole off the right side of the road and rolling over onto its roof. Live wires were down at the scene, knocking out power to approximately 1,500 Ohio Edison customers in the Franklin Square area and on Leetonia Road. State trooper Joy Bolen is investigating the crash. Morning Journal/Patti Schaeffer
