The expansive fields dwarf the barns in the distance, a common sight in rural America, but one hard to imagine if you live in the confines of a big city.
Farming in Rhode Island20 May 2013 -- 140/365Johnston, Rhode IslandThis small family-owned and run farm on the outskirts of Johnston, RI has been run by the Dame family since 1890. Originally a dairy farm with apple orchards, the Dame family in recent years eliminated the heifer portion of the business and focused entirely on the native agricultural products. It's a very popular destination for autumn "pick your own" apples and pumpkins, as well as hayrides and school and group tours of the fall harvest. Dame Farm remains a great example of pre-industrial Rhode Island.Post processing started with a photo pop filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, and contrast. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
