I haven't had this much fun since kindergarten. Back then I got in trouble for painting a bluebird in my own style, rather than the teacher's rigid, realistic style. This was done using a photo that I took as a basis. I brought it into Photoshop and used the mixer brushes and a Wacom tablet to apply individual brush strokes to the painting. I've probably done fifty paintings in recent months, just practicing and learning and trying to get them to look the way I want them. Finally, things are gelling. I am so hooked!
