Falls of Spring, McCormick's Creek State Park, Spencer, IN, Owen County
McCormick's Creek State Park is the oldest state park in Indiana. It was dedicated on July 4, 1916, as part of the state's centennial celebration. My goal for this image was to create a photograph that highlighted the limestone canyons, flowing creek and scenic waterfalls that this Park is known for. I was fascinated by the textures in the foreground rocks, reflections in the water, bright Spring foliage and cascading waters falling over the rock ledge to the lower pool. Chosen out of the 208 entries, "Falls of Spring" was one of 34 chosen to be displayed in the State House in Indianapolis as part of this year long exhibit.
Additionally, the Haan Mansion Museum of Indiana Art has invited the 2017 honorees to be featured in a special exhibition at the Haan Museum, titled Hoosier Women Artists: Works Selected for the Statehouse. This exhibition will run from August 3, 2018 through October 27th, 2018.
