19.02.13 - Frosty Foggy Fishponds

Just when we thought Spring was in the air we woke to freezing fog! By the time I got organised to go out with the camera I thought the frost would have gone, but there was still some down by the river and fishponds. It always amazes me how the temperature varies between town and country, even over the space of a few yards. Literally the other side of the ponds, in the background here, there was no frost. The fog cleared by lunchtime, leaving us with a glorious cloudless sunny day.

Thanks for the comments on my sculpture shot yesterday, for those that are interested there is a small gallery here showing different angles and perspectives;

12.05.12 - What Lies Beneath

I found this spot with nice reflections down at the Fishponds just after sunset. I was hoping for some nice colour in the sky to add to the shot, but it didn't develop. Instead I realised that I was too close to the edge and got very wet feet :)

Thanks for the wonderful responses to my collage yesterday, it's been a while since I did one like that. Today I'm off with the kids to photograph the Lincoln Grand Prix Cycle race, one of my favourite events of the year. So i think you know what my Daily will be tomorrow!

On a less happy note, did anyone else notice when Smugmug stopped using Google Maps to locate our images? The new mapping service is hopeless, so I've had to stop using it. The quality of aerial photos is embarrassingly poor. Smug are aware and seem unconcerned.
27.04.12 - Out for a Stroll

Swans are the most beautiful creatures in water, but on land they are about as graceful as I am in the water! This guy was wobbling along the foot/cycle path by the Old Fishponds as I made my way home yesterday evening. Him and his mate have set up a nest on the other side of the ponds, so expect pics of baby swans in due course :)

Thanks for the comments on my Parsley pic, the more I look at it the more I like it too :)
22.04.12 - Molten

This is another shot from the old fishponds, taken at the same time as the ducks I posted yesterday. We're still having very stormy days, but between the showers the air is beautifully clear. These ripple patterns were partly caused by the wind, and partly by the ducks which were skittish to say the least!
21.04.12 - Duck Dusk

Ducks on the fishponds at the end of a wild day when everything bar fire and brimstone dropped out of the sky!
20.04.12 - Spring by the Fishponds

This is a poster version of a recent shot down by the old fishponds in beautiful evening light.
10.04.12 - Marsh Marigold

These pretty flowers are appearing all along the water's edge down at the Fishponds, I think they're marsh marigolds, but they certainly brightened my day whatever they are.

Thanks for the comments on my "100 year old" photo yesterday, I was hoping to get into town and take a few more pics to experiment with, but I've gone down with a nasty throat infection so won't be going far for a few days.
