39/365 - Lava Love
The toughest and the most exhilarating day of the entire vacation. We went on a guided tour in hopes of watching the molten lava up close. The trek through the uneven terrains covered with lava rocks-especially on the way back in the dark- was not easy, but we got so close to the red hot lava and actually poked a stick in it! Then we watched the molten lava flow into the ocean at sunset, what a sight! We have one more week here on the island, but I am sure that THIS is the highlight of the trip. Nothing else can beat this experience!
Slippery Rock Creek
Ice, snow rock and water cascade down the falls at the Alluvial Fan on Wednesday. Warmtemperatures and low snowfall do not bode well for the flows in the South Platte River drainage.
