Kauai: Waimea Canyon Valley "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific" by James Brennan Molokai Hawaii
While Kauai is mostly noted for Waimea Canyon (The Grand Canyon of the Pacific), the Napali Coast, Nounou Mountain (Sleeping Giant), and Mount Waialeale (The Wettest Spot on Earth), it also has 50 miles of beautiful white sand beaches, many of which are very isolated. It’s also a favorite spot for filming movies, such as Bali Ha’i and Elvis’s Blue Hawaii. Mount Waialeale is a shield volcano, and in Hawaiian, Waialeale literally means “rippling water” or “overflowing water.” It receives an average of 452 inches a year and is home to many rare plants and birds.
